I use my long-term experience, both in-house (in New York) and freelance in my work. As a very experienced translator and writer, I can offer top quality translation into English.  Some of my works have been published  (poetry and short stories)-- otherwise, most of my experience is in the legal field, linguistics and literature, including extensive work for the City of New York and the New York State Courts. I also have some experience with translation of medical records, academic texts, financial translation, pharmaceutical materials and medical trials.

Experience:

2001- present: translator of literature, legal translator and interpreter for the New York State Unified Court System and the Federal Court of the United States, writer, freelance journalist (in English only), linguist working on some language reconstruction projects and independent linguistic studies. Most of my legal experience is in contracts, personal injury, medical malpractice and criminal law. I have also done some subtitling work for a few US and British companies, as well as video translations.

1995 - 2001     Law Offices of Kenneth Wilhelm, New York, New York, legal translator and paralegal. Duties included: translation of documents from Polish and Russian into English, drafting pleadings for litigation cases, translation of medical records. Freelance translator of literature. (At the same time)

1990 - 1995      Law Offices of Leslie E. Krause, New York, New York, legal translator and  litigation paralegal. Duties included: translation of documents, drafting pleadings, interpreting, negotiations and translation of medical records.  Freelance literary translator at the same time.

Other Experience: translation of literary texts (freelance). Translation of Russian poetry and prose into English for publication, translation of Lithuanian folk songs and poetry, translation of two short stories from Polish into English and a novel, translation of two Russian novels, a series of short stories; translation of lyrics for performance for an American alternative music band,  translation of two plays for Off-Off Broadway (only one staged), translation of short stories and children’s poems from Russian for publication; editing of a Russian novel; translation of Swedish poetry for a few competitions (poetry and short stories). Translation of old Swedish manuscripts and a cook book.  Translation of hundreds of contracts, criminal records, medical records, transcription of video tapes into English, subtitling in English for various prestigious companies, including TV stations.  Translation of medical brochures from Russian and medical trial materials from Polish.
