My name is Tiina Häkkinen and I'm a Finnish freelance translator and technical writer.
My working languages are English and Finnish.
I invest in providing high-quality translations with affordable rates. While my native language is Finnish, over 15 years of studying English, along with residing in both the UK and the USA, have given me the proficiency and confidence to consider English my second native.
I have a Master's Degree in Translation Studies, English and Finnish, obtained from Tampere University in 2003. I started freelancing already when I was still studying in university. Altogether, I have been in the translation business for 9-10 years. During this time, texts from a variety of subject areas have passed through my hands, ranging from business, marketing, tourism and travel to IT, Telecommunications, Engineering, Education, Electronics and Medical, to name a few.
I specialize in IT and Telecommunications, but engage in translating a lot of business-related material as well. I also have experience and great interest in software and web site localization, along with games translation and subtitling for TV and films.
I'm a firm believer in mutually beneficial, long-term customer relationships, and that is why I invest in smooth communication and quality assurance - no translation leaves my text without being proofread by another linguist.
