Jukebox

My greatest passion is music. I'm into it from my childhood. Started years ago today my collection comprises thousands of vinyl records and CD's.

I was lucky enough to be engaged into music not just as a hobbyist but also professionally as it always was very interesting for me.

As a music columnist I contributed to several newspapers and magazines. In 1989 in Ukraine where lived at that time I established my own newspaper. It was the very first periodical dedicated to non-academical music in that country.

After moving to Lithuania I worked as a Press Agent for Zona Records (the first independent record company in the territory of the former USSR) and later spent several years working as a DJ and Programme Director for two radio stations.

Now for many years already I am a full-time translator again but my passion for music is still with me. Sometimes when I visit local Russian bookstores it becomes a real pain for me: when I see all those wonderful books on The Beatles, Presley, Pink Floyd I do envy the guys who translate them... They are so lucky to get such interesting jobs that almost never come my way today. This is just the field I'd like to work in and I know that I am highly competent in it: it's hard to find an English to Russian translator in the field of jazz and rock music that would be better than I am but alas... they ask me to translate anything but not the things I'm so eager to work on... Life's a bitch!

   Nikita's JUKEBOX:

I'm not gonna load the jukebox with beloved Fab Four, Armstrong, Tull, Floyd, Cohen, Purple, Fitzgerald and alike: everybody knows them. We'd rather tickle here the dark, less known side of the moon music...

Play the records and let me know what you think. You can do it HERE.
I will try to load new records regularly at least once a week. Hope you will enjoy my little jukebox...
