Questo è il significato letterale, potresti adattarlo all'intera frase. A seconda del contesto potresti dire "la retorica dell'evitare attacchi diretti ai 3 scrittori" o " la retorica del non descrivere direttamente i 3 scrittori". Dipende da cosa evita ...
