Anyone have an idea how to translate this term? Thanks for any help! (I'm brain-dead today, I'm afraid) Rrethanat

might work. Beschaffung would normally be procurement, ie. purchasing, but if it's selling as well, trading, or even market, might work. I presume it's a computerised system?

Yes, it is, Alison. Basically like e-Bay but only dealing with electronics.

marketing platform or trading platform fits the bill very nicely in my view. Both imply buying and selling. The fact that this involves electronics makes no difference. 'Procurement' also involves both selling and buying. It can't be procured if it's not sold in the first place. 'E-procurement platform' is also a term that could be used here.

Quite a common term. Platform is a word used for almost anything in German and in English.

Igor, the platform is also for selling and renting, so purchasing platform would not work here, I'm afraid.

Procurement Platform is perfectly correct here. If web-based, then 'E-procurement platform' just to be clear.

- this term comprises purchase + sale, central marketing, logistics, management and IT services; it is also called E-Procurement Platform (even in German). Have a nice day ahead!

I preferred the term "resource" to "source" because I felt that this location or place is the meeting point where the procurement for sale is made easy.

I don't like Plattform or platform either but it's used all over the place in IT and communications I'm afraid.

I don't think marketplace would work nicely here Rolf, because this involves 'high-end' products and high-end products are not generally found on a marketplace [a term in English which is generally reserved for low-end goods].
