Sei sicura che si tratta di piastre? Se hai a disposizione dei disegni che confermano quest'impressione, va bene così. Però, se non ci sono disegni, mi chiedo (senza sapere che tipo di filtro sia) se non si tratta piuttosto di cornici squadrate. In tal caso direi qualcosa tipo: "In addition to having square frames that protrude from their seats, the filters have nets that are somewhat slack, thus creating inward and outward bulges." La scrittura mi sembra comunque un po' lasca, perchè la seconda clausola non segue la prima con grande logica.

Hai modo di chiedere, o di far chiedere, al committente? Io trovo che in questi casi il cliente finale è spesso ben lieto di fornire spiegazioni sul proprio prodotto, ed è anche nel suo interesse...

Se la mia impressione si rivelasse giusta, userei "(square) frames."

In genere per squadre si intendono dei pezzi a L con angolo a squadra, non qualcosa di forma quadrata, né delle anonime piastre, ma concordo con Alison, un disegno/foto scioglierebbe ogni dubbio.

You definitely do need more information, it could however be something like framing/mounting/positioning brackets/ears/tabs that are used to correctly position the filter within another part. I would also say that the word "net" is more than likely incorrect and that you are perhaps more likely to be dealing with "mesh".

Yes, I was in doubt about net as well but didn't have time to go into that aspect this morning. Mesh may well be a better option.

Grazie mille a tutti voi per l'interesse dimostrato. Indubbiamente anche a me "mesh" suona decisamente meglio. Volevo allegare un'immagine per farvela vedere, ma purtroppo non so come fare.
