Abhishek Srivastava has been active in the field of communication for over half a decade. Known for his speed, bilingual proficiency and utility in the capital's journalist and literary fraternity, he is currently providing language and communications solutions to various clients ranging from language newspapers, NGO's, international development agencies and embassies to individuals online, offline and everywhere in between.
Giving a headstart to his career from the India's premier and fastest news agency United News Of India Hindi Service (UNIVARTA) as a sub-editor, he moved on to Delhi's largest circulated Hindi newspaper Navbharat Times as a Copy Editor cum Correspondent. He was responsible for any language related mistake in the edition and finalising the translated stories of Economic Times. Simultaneously, he continued taking typical translation assignments from UNDP to CSDS on issues ranging from Women Entrepreneurship to Lectures On Subaltern History. Moving ahead, he served as Assistant Editor in the international illustrated news magazine The Day After, Assistant Editor in a Hindi fortnightly Senior India of S1 group and in the news bulletin of DD News "Rozana" produced by BAG Films where he was responsible for the generation of positive development stories, research and script editing. There he developed a special flavour for developmental issues and worked with many development organisations thereafter simultaneously, naming a few Mobile Creches, INSAF, PEACE, NAFRE. The journey concluded in his joining Charkha Development Communication Network as Editor(Hindi).
After completing an enriching assignment in Charkha, he worked as a media consultant with the Campaignes Department of Action Aid India specifically with regard to the preparations for Indian Social Forum. Simultaneously, he continued translations, editing and proof assignments for CNDP, CHARCA, NACO and publications like Penguin, Rajkamal, Gyanpeeth, Harper & Collins and many more. He has currently completed the translation of a book on Intellectual Property Rights published from Switzerland and working on some translation assignments related to Media Advocacy on HIV/AIDS for Samyak Communications headed by senior journalist Rahul Dev. Apart from these, he is continously assisting in the publication of British Sameeksha, a magazine published by the British Embassy In India and writing opinion articles and column for some Hindi newspapers like Hindustan, Jansatta, Sahara, Sunday Post, Amar Ujala and magazines like Samayantar, Senior India, India Today, Social Audit, Aajkal, Yuva Samwad, DNA etc. He has a wide appearance online from blogs to websites. He has studied in the premier university and institutes i.e. Indian Institute Of Mass Communication and Banaras Hindu University. He belongs to a small district of Uttar Pradesh, Ghazipur and has lived in Varanasi.
Currently, he is working full time with business daily The Economic Times as incharge of edit page. Apart from this, all the regular freelancing assignments are intact in their place.
