Background |
 |
Due to ever increasing numbers of translating commissions during 2003, I left employment to become a full time freelance at the start of 2004. My specialty is in medicine and pharmaceuticals. Typical assignments include hospital discharge reports, regulatory drug documentation and biomedical journal articles, although I translate other material as well. I translate from French, German, Spanish, Polish, Croatian and Slovenian into English and also do proofreading of translations. My clients include agencies in UK, USA, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Poland.
Previous work experience:
1989-2003: Scientist and information specialist in a scientific charity. This included keeping up to date with biomedical research, preparation of reports and presentations, attendance at meetings and dealing with enquiries.
1988: Temporary position as retrospective cataloguer in library of a water authority.
1979-1984: Freelance work as editor and translator in Zagreb. Clients included a pharmaceutical company, several scientific journals, and individual scientists.
1979: Postdoctoral research into mechanisms of autoimmunity.
Education:
1987-1988: Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies, with distinction, from Ealing College, London, UK.
1975-1978: PhD at Bristol University, researching mechanisms of autoimmunity
1972-1975: BSc First Class Honours in Cellular Pathology at Bristol University.
