Nina (Daian) Iordache , Freelance Certified Translator
33 Years of Translation Experience!
I am a Native Romanian and live in Bucharest, Romania with my husband and a teenage daughter.
Education: BA with major in English and minor in Romanian (University of Bucharest, Germanic Languages Faculty, English-Romanian Section).
Most of my life (31 years) I have been translating as a full time employee:
- at work: technical and commercial/business documents, contracts, etc (in a Foreign Trade Company: Industrialexport here in Bucharest): 10 years
- at work: administrative, secretariat, billing and consular documents, etc. (in a US Mission: The American Embassy here in Bucharest): 21 years
- privately as a freelancer: all sorts of documents from various fields and literary Sf stories and a book (all published): The Queen of Air and Darkness by Poul Anderson and The Listeners by James Gunn
For the last two years, as a freelancer:
- Literary Translations: Non-Fiction: How To have Ideas by Jack Foster, I Don't Have a Thing to Wear : The Psychology of Your Closet by Judie Taggart and Jackie Walker, Fiction: A thriller in Ancient Egypt: Nefertiti by Nick Drake and a spy book: The Faithful Spy by Alex Berenson, Children’s Book: The Little Princess by Tony Ross (more books in the series).
- Automotive texts
- Commercial contracts
- Legal correspondence
- Bank contracts
Certifications: Technical Translator’s Certificate, Certificate for Communication Skills Workshop, Certificates of Appreciation and a Recommendation from my last place of work (from my former boss, the US Consul General)
Translator’s License: I have recently become a legal self-employed translator and can issue invoices and possess a stamp/seal.
Sworn Translator: Translator’s Permit with the Ministry of Justice. But have not yet bought a seal/stamp. I can scan the Permit though for you, as needed.
Activity per day: I can translate up to 5000 word per day, depending on the complexity of the text.
Translation rates and payment: My fees range from 0.08 to 0.10 Euro per word, again, depending on the complexity of the text to be translated. I accept money through: Moneybookers and PayPal. I have more bank accounts and debit cards so you can just transfer the money into my bank account or you can send it by Western Union.
Translation instruments: I have a computer, a laptop, unlimited broadband access to internet, a scanner/copier/printer, a cellular and a stationary phone, a camera (if need be) and a wide range of large and precious dictionaries that I am using to refine my translations. I translate without using translation software, in a traditional, careful and precise manner: I pride myself to check all the details of my work, including the way the finnished document looks.
Software:I can use Microsoft Word, Access, Excel with ease: I have done this for the last 10 years.
Use of Internet: I am currently surfing and using the internet for all kind of private and business purposes with ease and have done this for the last 10 years.
