  •  "Working as a senior translator in Good Harbor Consulting, a consulting firm specialising in providing security consulting services for a broad range of clients both governmental and non-governmental ones.
  •  Responsibilities include translating, proofreading and editing of reports and deliverables.
  • Provide cultural and linguistic guidance and advice to Good Harbor’s consultants for both the English and Arabic versions of their work. It also extends to advice and guidance during meetings with clients as well as more general issues, whether work- or life-related, in the UAE. 
  • Drafted a proposal for the expansion of translation department with detailed cost-analysis, advantages and disadvantages, as well as possible alternative or complementary solutions.

  •  "Forced Migration Review" is published by the Refugee Studies Centre at Oxford University and focuses on issues related to refugees and internally-displaced persons (IDPs). The Journal is published in English, Arabic and Spanish and French.
  •  Responsibilities include deciding, with other editors, on themes and articles; organising call for papers and relevant publicity; editing articles received in Arabic, raising awareness of themes and issues, monitoring and organising subscription and distribution, fund-raising, as well as managing the necessary translation work of articles for the Arabic and French editions of the journal and proofreading, editing and proofing of the Arabic edition

  • Summarising and simplifying complex medical systematic reviews published by the Cochrane Collaboration, creating a user-friendly database for health professionals and patients.
  • Researching, preparing and writing “Patients’ Reports” using rigorous search methods, and appraisal processes to establish the best available research evidence.
  • Identifying the best medical papers in key topic areas using a variety of specialist information sources such as Medline, Cochrane library and other medical journals
  • Transforming selected papers into Critically Appraised Topics (CATs) using specific epidemiological statistical methods to assess the validity of the research and to present the findings as a concise one-page summary. The work continued towards the publication of a new medical textbook — Acute Medicine: Evidence-based On Call.

  • Research Associate to Dr John Davis the Warden (president) of All Souls College, Oxford University. Duties included mainly translating a large volume of legal documents, mainly marriage and divorce ones, from Arabic into English.

  • The Company worked as an intermediary between Syrian national companies and foreign companies bidding for work in Syria. Daily duties involved translating all correspondence, technical brochures, contracts, invoices and any other documents that needed passing from one party to another.
  • Duties also included the management of the daily schedule of the company’s general manager as well as accompanying him to his meetings where I acted as an interpreter for foreign businessmen attending.
