I am a native Turkish speaker who is fluent in written and spoken English.  I have a UK MA degree with distinction in business studies.  I have written reports for senior management and have proofread in both languages, as well as being an experienced and qualified interpreter (NVQ Level-3) working for a variety of agencies.  I am currently working on a PhD at the University of Bristol.

I have been working in the UK as a freelance interpreter and translator (Turkish/English and vice versa).  My previous work in Turkey in international shipping (Oct 2001 – Dec 2007) involved intensive translation work. Part of this work was to check and proofread English/Turkish Business and Financial Report documents for international circulation.  I have not included details of this on my CV because I have sufficient recent UK experience.

I have translated in specific technical areas such as cardiology; dentistry; oncology; fraud prevention procedures; legal documents (Turkish to English); ophthalmology; sport; commercial; commercial law; marketing and financial. I have a good knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and have worked on pharmaceutical reports with Language Matters.   I have also completed financial and technical translations.  Most recently I have been doing translation/transcreation/copywriting for Redmint Communications, working on websites, press releases and promotions for Pegasus Airlines and EasyJet. 

I work carefully to master a brief, producing fast accurate translations in the required style, depending on the medium.  I always meet deadlines.  I am experienced with translation software. 

I have undertaken proofreading/script editing for organisations including the BBC and ITV.  I have corrected scripts in Turkish for voiceover agencies.  I have also been a voiceover artist for HSBC, ITV, DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures, Yumos and L’Oreal.

For interpreting, my specialised areas in the UK have been: county and family courts, public services (Housing, Benefits & Council, children’s and adult services); NHS (including mental health); education (primary and secondary schools).  I am familiar with a variety of interpreting techniques – consecutive, simultaneous. liaison and whispered.
