PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a freelance translator from French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese into English with over three years’ professional experience, specialising in financial and legal texts. After completing my MA, I spent two years working for the Financial Times, during which time I produced summary translations of 25 articles per day for publication on the newspaper’s website and translated articles on the mutual fund industry for Ignites Europe, a specialist publication for professionals in the asset management sector. The articles were also used by third-party aggregators, such as Factiva and Lexis Nexis. While working for Temple Translations, I translated a wide range of legal and financial documents at a rate of 2,500 words per day for the firm’s clients, which include several blue-chip companies and nine of the UK’s top ten law firms. My time at the company also involved proofreading and editing, and one project in which I translated an extremely sensitive report for a foreign government. I have also completed numerous freelance projects for both translation agencies and end clients such as the UK Tribunals Service and the Advertising Standards Authority.

I perform translation, editing and proofreading services for both translation agencies and end clients. I cover a wide range of subject areas, specialising in finance, business and law.

· Taught the Italian Subsidiary module on the MA Technical and Specialised Translation course.

· Gave students a thorough grammatical overview of Italian to enable them to translate it into their mother tongue.
