Working experience as an Independent Consultant

I started my career by working in Accounting and Business Development for the Finnish Savings Banks in 1971-1976. One of my assignments was to develop a computer aided planning methodology for the Finnish Savings banks, which was highly appreciated.

I worked then in Sweden with Software Design in a small consultant company from 1976 to 1982. I specialized in analyzing and modeling of business processes and concepts to assist Software Engineers in software development projects. I became one of the pioneers in this methodology in Sweden.

I established my own consultancy business in 1982 and worked then 20 years as an independent Management and IT-consultant. I specialized in areas such as Business Process Development, Information Resource Management and Software Engineering.

My customers were among the biggest Swedish corporations, such as Ericsson, Saab, Pharmacia Corporation, Swedish Post, Folksam, SPP/Alecta, Swedish Savings Banks, Stjärn-TV/UPC, magazines Aftonbladet and Expressen among many others. I helped my customers to define their strategic Business and IT-development plans based on the conceptual models of their business, and assisted in their software development projects to realize stable and effective data bases and applications software.

Through my work I got to understand business principles and concepts in various branches, such as Logistics, Banking, Insurance, Telecommunications, Pharmacy, Cable-TV-networks, Magazines – almost no branch or business process neglected.

Working as a Freelance translator

I am now using my wide and deep working experience as a freelance translator since 2007. Finnish is my native language, but after having lived 30 years in Sweden I regard even Swedish as my second native language. I translate between English, Finnish and Swedish, in all directions.

Since 2007 I have had an opportunity to cover a variety of special fields, such as Finance, IT, Business Economy, Marketing, Tourism, Medical Equipments, Automotive, Technical translations (like owner’s manuals for cars, motorcycles), Mines, Education, Software localization, etc.

My output has been in average 350,000 words translated per year and I have translated over 1,2 million words totally by now. My daily output can be 2000-3000 words, depending on the situation.

CAT-tools
I am using Cat-tools like Trados (latest versions) and Passolo (for localization). I have of course all ordinary desktop applications (MS Office etc.).
