WORK EXPERIENCE
I started as a part-time freelance translator in 1987, in addition to teaching English. Afterwards, I decided to dedicate my professional life to translation full-time and began to specialize in some technical fields, including software localization.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
During my spare time I like compiling glossaries and writing articles about translation in general, Linguistics and the freelance translator world. Some of them can be read at www.contesti.eu (my cultural online magazine on which I also publish a section dedicated to Linguistics), on the IOL and ITI bulletins and some on-line translation portals; more info and updates on my ongoing activity at www.antotranslation.com, an interactive website based on Plone where colleagues and readers can register and also collaborate with articles and news about translation.
I have recently published an e-book guide for freelance translators (see www.antotranslation.com) and more articles are in preparation. The guide is currently in Italian only, but English and Spanish versions will be published as well.
I also write articles about translation for the ITI Bulletin and The IOL The Linguist: my last article for freelance translators was published there on the February 2011 issue.

The complete list of CPD activities can be found at the CPD page of my Proz.com profile page.

Desktop Search ProgramsThis article offers a brief overwiew of some new desktop search programs, such as Google, Yahoo, AOL, Microsofts and others. It explains how they work and how to get and use them, providing the links to the Internet websites from which you can download them. How Valuable Time Can Be to a Freelance Translator and How To Organise Your Workday and LifeA common and widespread assumption among those who are not familiar with this job is that being a freelancer implies more freedom of movement than working as an employee. In practice, you can work "when" and "if" you decide to. On the contrary, unless you pay the due attention to the organisation of your time, you will discover how easily your job will turn to a kind of prison.
