EXPERIENCE:
Freelance language professional:
For the last 6 years, I have provided my services to many agencies and private clients in different subject areas. Although I carry out a substantial amount of work in subjects of general interest, such as magazine articles, my main specialisation areas are videogames localisation, public service, corporate material, travel and tourism and EU documentation. Examples of past experience include:
- Translation of multiple documents for the EU, including a large database on environmental, social and political issues. - Ad-hoc interpreting in immigration centres, jobcentres, benefits agencies and prisons. - Translation of numerous articles for a magazine dedicated to car enthusiasts. - Translation of the new clothing range of a well-known outdoor clothing retailer. - Translation on a company’s workshop on stress management. - Transcription and summary of multiple interviews recorded in Spain and South America destined to be part of documentary programmes. - Translation of the instructions for a pet-feeding machine. - Voice-over for a corporate video demonstrating a kitchen appliance.
I am highly specialised in the videogames field, after having worked 5 years in-house for one of the market leaders, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, and having translated and revised multiple games on a freelance contract. Throughout my career, I have collaborated as a translator, editor and QA specialist in countless titles for several platforms (PS2, PSP, PS3, Wii, Xbox, PC), such as The Eye of Judgment, Lair, Tekken: Dark Resurrection and Hellgate.
In fact, I am very interested in raising the profile of videogames localisation, and was recently invited as a speaker to the First CTIS Postgraduate Conference at the University of Manchester, where I talked about “Common pitfalls in the videogames localisation industry”.
