CURRICULUM VITAE
Employment Experience.
May 2003 to date: Freelance translation for a number of clients, but most particularly the Mecatrad agency in France, VEF (an English firm which assists English-speakers relocating to France), the Magharebia news website (which covers North African events).
October 2002 to date: Lay Clerk at Chelmsford Cathedral, singing in the choir at weekday and occasional weekend services.
Sept. 2001 to 2005: Teaching supply in a number of schools in Chelmsford, Billericay and Basildon. Covering for absent staff in a range of subjects.
Sept. 1990 to July 2001: Great Baddow High School, Chelmsford, Essex.
Initially appointed as Teacher of French. Responsibilities included lesson planning and delivery, assessment of student progress, reporting to parents and colleagues, accompanying school parties on visits to France, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, assisting with extra-curricular activities including music and drama.
Subsequent promotions saw me working as Second in Department, with extra managerial, planning and budgeting responsibilities, including the introduction of ICT more widely in the Department. Then I went on to become an Assistant Head of Year, with additional pastoral responsibilities, and greater involvement in school / parent relationships. My last promotion saw me working as Assessment Manager, introducing ICT-based systems for tracking and report progress on a school-wide basis.
Prior to 1990: Temporary and Saturday work on a local fruit farm and as a receptionist in a local optical practice.

Positions of responsibility held while at KEGS included Full Prefect, House Captain, Assistant Editor of the school magazine. Other activities included school athletics team, choir, orchestra and drama company.

Outside Activities.
Positions of Responsibility: I am Deputy Conductor of the Stondon Singers, a local choir, and a committee member for various choirs. I am also a regular organist at a church in Ilford.
Hobbies: My main activities are musical, and my main musical outlet is through singing. I sing as a Lay Clerk at Chelmsford Cathedral on a part-time basis. I currently belong to two other choirs which meet on a weekly basis, acting as Chairman for one of these, but sing with a number of other choirs which meet less regularly. I sing solos for these and for various other local groups from time to time. I am also a pianist and organist, occasionally accompanying rehearsals and church services. I keep fit, and train regularly at a local gymnasium. I also enjoy fell-walking. I am a keen player of word games, such as Scrabble, and enjoy the occasional visit to a pub or club with friends.
