I downloaded the hotfix and tried to install it, but I got a error message saying that one or more files could not be extracted.

Could you tell me where and how I might report this problem please?

I am desperate. I have office 2003 and 2007, and Trados, and everytime I use a file with an office 07 format, the TRADOS refuses to work so I managed pretty well to work with my office 03 along with trados. The tricky thing is that one of my clients sent me an office 07 powerpoint file, and obviously TRADOS failed to work.

What can I do in this case? Any advice will be appreciated. PLEASE HELP

The recommended workflow for Powerpoint 2007 files and Trados involves Tageditor. Did you try to simply open your PPTX file using Tageditor?

As an alternate method, and if you still want to use the Word-based interface, you could also very well use MemoQ to import the PPTX, export as bilingual doc, translate that bilingual doc using Word, then reimport the translated bilingual doc to update your translation and export the final file. Even the 4Free edition of MemoQ can do that.

Just let us know what you tried and if it did work.

1) What Trados version are you using?
2) What OS are you using?
3) What was your workflow?
4) What is the error message you get?

I realize you had this problem last year so it's probably old news, however, I am teaching myself how to use Trados right now and I was having the same problem, so I hope you don't mind me using this post as a place to share the solution. The problem of it showing the hidden text is not a Trados Issue so much as it is a Microsoft Word issue. I think I started having the problem because I had tried to change the font on the translated text before I was finished with translation and therefore I had accidentally removed the parameter within the font that had previously hidden the source text. After doing some research online, I found the solution, the link to which can be found below this text. As reported in the article attached to this link, you need to go to the Tools menu in Microsoft Word, click "Options" at the bottom of the menu, and then, in the "View" tab, uncheck the box next to "Hidden Text." I did as the article  directed, and voila! No more source text.
