Individualize the voice of your e-mail account

I use several e-mails accounts for my various activities: one is for urgent business matters, another is for friends and fun, etc.

Do you also have several accounts? Then I would recommend you to set your e-mail client in such a way that each account has its own individual 'voice' (sound e-mail notification). I've done it and now even if I'm not at the computer but in another room I always know by the sound at which account a new message comes. The sound of a police alarm means something business-like and urgent, Bolero by Ravel stands for TC forum messages, when I hear The Beatles singing 'Send me a postcard, drop me a line' it means... well, I won't tell you what it means... but I think you've already got the idea.

But you may ask me: Where to get those sounds?

First of all try to search... your own computer: go to Start > Search and type *.wav in the search line. You will be surprised to see how many sound files live in your PC.

If you haven't managed to find something to your taste in your computer you can try to find sound files in the Internet. Many web sites offer free downloads of such files.

One of the best sites of this kind is EmailGifsandSounds. Below you can see only a small fraction of their huge collection (you can preview all the sounds online and download those you like):
