What works for me is holding a wooden ruler right underneath each line and then reading the line aloud very slowly. I force myself to deal with one line at a time. It's very effective. It's a trick I learned from an old pro, who used to teach translation at Copenhagen Business School.

I do that too for the "translation-check" part of my checking, though it can be any straight-edge thing.
We are physical beings with bodies, a nervous system, and to some extent body and mind go hand in hand. Personally I need to be able to touch the paper. It helps me concentrate. I get antsy if I am constantly locked into this virtual system.
