This is part of the problem. Much translation theory is useless and too many translators know it! If theorists would think harder about what they do and would base more of their cogitations on real-life, we might get somewhere. And, at times, it has actually revealed some interesting and not at all obvious insights. However, personally, I prefer interpreting and interpreting studies.
