RE: Glasgow Meetup

Hello Jonathan,
I would be happy to fly to Glasgow, SCO for some days this year if you can arrange some informal meeting there.

RE: Glasgow Meetup

I am a native Spanish/Galician speaker with a degree in Translating& Interpreting. based in Scotland and looking for a career in translation.

I would definitely be interested in meeting up with other translators/linguists in the area.

Thanks,

Begoña

Weather-wise, early Summer might be a good time.  However, it might be a good idea to time it with one of Glasgow's festivals (http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/ArtsDevelopment/festivalsandevents.htm).

Just so long as we do it before September, from which time I will be spending most days in Edinburgh for a while.

RE: Glasgow Meetup

What a great idea!

I am a Glasgow native living in Bolivia.  I hope to get back for a visit in August/September.

Late August sounds good to me.  I will still be living in Glasgow from September but my weekdays will be spent travelling between Weegieland and Edinburger!

Veteran? Why, I could be your grandfather! I was born up there on the Clyde just before WW2. Do you know where Bishop Street was? Don't search the map, it's gone for ever. That's where my father (+grandfather, greatgrandfather) made paint to protect The Queen Mary and Queen Elisabeth liners. I would love to come, but I am residing in the south of France.]

Good luck, Brian Morrison

RE: Glasgow Meetup

Could be interesting.  I'm based in Spain  now, but might be back over in summer to see the family and friends, so could possibly attend. The last time I tried to get translation work in Glasgow I got zero response. I found it hard to even get TEFL work too, although I did work on one summer TEFLA course in Edinburgh in 1990.

Please keep me up to date on your plans for the meet.

Be lucky, nm
