EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – Press freedom in several European countries has eroded dramatically in the past year, particularly in Slovakia, Italy and Bulgaria, according to an annual index released on Tuesday (20 October) by NGO Reporters Without Borders. http://euobserver.com/9/28855

Are two halves plural?
But two halves make a whole.
Are a herd of cows plural?
But the herd is singular.
Maybe I'm wrong.

If you really must offend someone, wait until they are lying down: people handle anger differently when they're lying on their backs, compared with sitting upright.

This article does not say anything about the nature of anger and this may be the issue:
Freedom of the press is mostly restricted where rulers (such as semi-democratic presidents, dictators, bureaucrats, etc.) do not want to listen to justified criticism due to the fact that they know that open public criticism will question their soon-to-be merely historical power.
For such non-democratic rulers and no-brainers, Sigmund Freud's Psychoanalysis has well offered a couch to lie down.
So it will also be an abuse of censorship if rulers misuse their power to push the buttons based on personal subjective anger, claiming that they have been "offended".
Everybody who holds a public office or other public assignment must not pathetically claim to be "offended" or "harassed" by justified criticism or else it will simply be a symbolic end of democratic culture.

I have encountered some truly (in my view) nutty things on this site, and some very odd and weird opinions. But I still would rather have it that way, than have it be censored.
BTW, not many have mentioned this, but the Obama administration recently tried to shut Fox News out of official press conferences. The reason was the Fox is, according to the Obama administration, "political" and "not news". And yet, the Huffington Post - which is VERY political - is invited. The entire thing fell on its face when the entire press rallied around Fox against Obama, and said that you cannot pick and choose: either all the press, or none of it. It really is very embarrassing for the Obama admin. I have never really liked Fox News, but I think I will start reading it now, out of interest and solidarity. I think that Fox also profits from this "attention".

Isn't there also a rule against continuing a vindictive personal dispute with somebody who just died (especially if you have to open your own new thread to do it)?
