Christmas Menu
I was just wondering what people eat for Christmas. Can somebody perhaps explain to me the mystery of lutfisk. Somebody was trying to explain it to me before but I still do not know exactly what it is and how to make it, probably impossible outside of Sweden.  What are your favourite foods?

RE: Christmas Menu
I plan to make a turkey in the oven and maybe some ham and green beans in the crockpot.  I really like sweet potato casserole and lots of veggies, but I feel like I'm the only one so maybe we will skip those this year.    I am having guests from out of town, who hopefully will each make something special.  Usually in my family there is an abundance of carbs like mashed potatoes, potato salad, and rolls.  Oh and of course a gazillion pies!  And of course cranberry sauce.

RE: Christmas Menu

Hi, Nichole. In the Eastern European tradition, we have to have at least 12 dishes for Christmas Eve, such as cabbage with mushrooms, fried fish, raw fish - herring, potatoes, mushroom soup, ginger bread,  poppy seed cake or pudding, wheat seed with  honey, nuts, sweets, small cookies, apples and many other things if one wishes.  It is usually a very big feast.  We put a fish scale under the tablecloth for good luck.

RE: Christmas Menu
Wow, that is really different than what we are going to have.  I don't know what I was expecting.
