Michel Mullejans Professional French Translator To Whom It May Concern: My experience in professional translation is extensive. I joined Hewlett-Packard France’s Translation Group in 1981 at Hewlett-Packard’s Translation Department in Orsay, near Paris. In 1983, an opportunity to work within HP in the United States presented itself.
I was chosen for the position, and was dispatched to the HP Corvallis Division, becoming HP PCD’s senior on-site French translator.
Prior to working for HPF’s translation department, I worked for Merck & Co. promoting their pharmaceuticals related to cardiology, and in medical electronics, for Picker Corp. and Hewlett-Packard France’s Medical Group. (Ultrasound scanners, echocardiography, echography, ECG, ICU and CCU monitoring stations.)
In 1991, I left HP on my own terms, and became a freelance translator and technical writer.
Thank you for your reading this short resume. A more formal version follows.
Yours sincerely, Michel Mullejans. RESUME SUMMARY EDUCATION: - Classical humanities (Latin, 6 years – Greek 5 years) - Germanic Philology (English, German, Dutch), 1971 - Marketing (ICHEC - Institut Catholique des Hautes Études Commerciales), 1973 EXPERIENCE:
Independent translator 1991 to the present Hewlett-Packard Co. Translator - Sales Engineer — Medical Group: Cardiac Ultrasound, ICU, and CCU equipments – Portable Computer Division Écully and Orsay, France, 1981-1984 – Corvallis, OR 1984 to 1989 Picker International Corporation - Sales Engineer Medical Electronics, Scanners, Ultrasound, Cardiology 1974-1980 Merck, Sharpe & Dohme – Regional Manager Pharmaceuticals. 1971-1974 Recommendations: “Michel Mullejans is an extraordinary and gifted translator. His technical knowledge and range of experiences make him unusually well qualified in many different fields. As a marketing manager for TRM Corporation, I hired Michel to translate a key marketing brochure for an unusual product offering. Michel's translation of a clever piece of writing of an American brochure was one of the key reasons that our marketing campaign succeeded in France.
Later, I asked for Michel's help in translating a highly technical set of documents in an entirely different industry. Again, his insights and linguistic solutions were excellent.
Michel is unique among translators. Most translators I have worked with are more comfortable in their native language. In my experience, Michel's particular talent is that his life experience is equally weighted in French and English. He operates from a position of strength in both languages.
I cannot recommend him more highly!”
David Boe Marketing Executive - Cooperative Perfusion Services Portland, Oregon *** "August 26, 2006
To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to provide this letter of recommendation for Michel Mullejans, French translator. I have personally worked with Michel for over six years and in that time have been consistently impressed by the quality of his translations, attention to detail, and dedication to providing superior customer service.
For many contracted linguists, projects are often viewed as just another paycheck. Not so for Michel. He has always viewed himself as an extension of the Lingo Systems team, whether interacting with internal staff, clients, or other linguists. We would not hesitate to assign him the toughest tasks, with the tightest timelines, and most demanding clients because we knew we could count on Michel to deliver each and every time. He is an expert linguist with a complete grasp of the developments in language, the latest industry tools, and the best practices and trends.
Michel has worked for Lingo Systems consistently, from its very beginnings, over 14 years ago. He is one of the few linguists to last this long with us. This alone is a testament to the quality and skill he brings to each engagement. Michel has treated us well over the years, and I, and the other Project Managers, have always been happy with the work he did for Lingo Systems. I recommend Michel to you as a French translator without reservation." Sincerely,
Daniel M. Roth Operations Manager Lingo Systems Portland. Oregon **** "Our foundation was looking for an interpreter-translator, to accompany us on a negotiations and public relations trip to the United States, during which we had to hold discussions on different themes: legal, business, and financial. We had the good fortune of finding Michel Mullejans, who not only consistently delivered his high quality translations on time, but also often gave us useful insights on cultural differences, local culture, customs, mentalities and attitudes; all proved strongly useful to the completion of our projects."
