Fan Gao

My name is Fan Gao and I’m a full-time Chinese translator based in Shanghai. I majored in English at Zhejiang University and graduated with a BA in the English Language. I specialize in business, financial and legal translation and have become highly regarded at translation agencies and with some direct clients worldwide.

I am recognised as an English to Chinese certified PRO translator at Proz.com, the largest translation community on the Internet. I have a very strict work ethic; I’m conscientious, reliable and efficient, and above all, I respect deadlines and client confidentiality. I enjoy excellent communication with clients. I am very PC literate and I use Trados as a CAT tool.

I have amassed a wealth of experience translating many subject matters, especially in the areas of business, finance and law. In addition to those translations where accuracy is of the utmost importance, I have also translated texts that require creative adaptation. I have produced translations for some of the most prestigious brands such as Vertu, Piaget, Cartier, Gucci, Tod's, dunhill and Swarovski who are extremely meticulous about the quality of their translation as they are about the quality of their products. Their projects that I have translated and adapted have appeared on TV, websites and in luxury magazines.

As well as Chinese translation services, I also offer a Chinese copywriting service, and have been successfully copywriting for advertising agencies worldwide since 2005. I have been exposed to a very strong western influence and I understand the cultural differences between the east and the west. An advertising message that works well in the west doesn’t necessarily have the same impact in the east and I can help to creatively adapt your message.
