Calling all socially-minded Kazakh speakers!
The Global Lives Project is a non profit collaboration of volunteer filmmakers, photographers, architects, artists, programmers, designers, and everyday people from across the globe.
The last of Global Lives Project’s 10 shoots, Global Lives Project - Kazakhstan specifically focuses on 5 year old Zhanna who lives in Vannovka, a small town in Southern Kazakhstan. Her parents run an orphanage for mostly Russian children aged 5-17 years. Zhanna has grown up with these orphans and they have become her extended family.
24 hours in her life and a life story interview will be shared with people all around the world through a unique video installation and a dynamic online video library. In February 2010, Global Lives’ will have its World Premier at a very well-regarded gallery space called Yuerba Buena Center (http://www.ybca.org/) in San Francisco in February 2010. It will be showcased for 4 months and it is estimated that 50,000 people will view it during this time.
