EXPERIENCE AS AN IN-HOUSE LINGUIST

I worked as an in-house (full-time) translator and interpreter for a period of five years. In the entire span of five years when I worked with giant multinationals, I was responsible for translation, proofreading, editing, summarizing and also the interpretation.

Nature of work

·         Worked as Japanese Interpreter / Translator in the Technical Team. Worked on-site i.e. in Japan at the client sites (Tokyo, Kyushu) on-project. (e-Emphasys Technologies Japan Ltd.). Served clients from Japan excelling in fields of semiconductor manufacturing, power supplies. Tasks involved interpretation (Japanese < > English, Japanese > Hindi), translation (Japanese < > English), attending calls/ queries from clients thus facilitating communication between Indian and Japanese software professionals.

·         Review of translated technical documents. Correction/ modifications in the same as per client requirements.

·         Worked on the Japanese website maintenance that included reviews, locating loopholes in the website from linguistic point of view and overcoming them with help of web designers and developers.

Nature of work:

·         Worked as a Japanese Translator (Japanese < > English) in Japan Team of Asia-Pacific region (Accounts Payable). Work in high-risk area i.e. Accounting Services.

·         Main responsibility: Translation of Japanese invoices from Japan. (Communication with onshore – Japan for daily processing of invoices)

·         Translation was followed by allocation of expenses in proper categories for processing of the invoice. The allocation was accompanied by ‘auditing’ where thorough study was done whether the expenses were in line with company policies.

·         Was able to process with quality and quantity keeping in mind the deadlines of the same!
