Previous and present occupation, and competence:

-In November 1979 appointed associate professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden, with research, teaching and PhD-student supervision in forest genetics as main subject.

-Deputy head of department at department of forest genetics  2000-12-01.

-Acting head of department (Prefekt) at Department of forest genetics, SLU, (1984-07-01 -- 1985-06-30 and 1988-06-01 -- 1988-06-30)

-Since 2002 involved in translating scientific text from English to Swedish or Swedish to English, through ProLingua Translation Services.

-One full year of advanced English studies in my basic academic training, followed by extensive experience (30+ years) in international scientific cooperation and by teaching genetics in English, in Sweden and abroad.

Professional training and employment:

1972 Bachelor’s degree, including English language, Genetics and Botany.

1978 PhD in genetics, University of Umea, Sweden. Thesis: Allozymes in population genetic studies of Norway spruce (Picea abies K.).

1979 Employed as associate professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural sciences, Department of Forest Genetics, Uppsala.

2002 Starting ProLingua Translation Service. Translating English to Swedish or Swedish to English. Main body of translations has been English patent applications translated into Swedish - primarily patents in medicine, pharmacology, technology, microbiology, genetics, chemistry and other general natural science subjects. Translations of general English, economy and law are also accepted.

International collaboration in research and teaching, 2000 -

2000 – 2003. Participation in EU-project “Importance of regulation mechanisms for the climatic adaptation of tree species, an example of Picea abies (ADAPTABILITY )” within the 5th EU Framework.

2001 – 2003. Three periods as visiting scientist at Griffith University, Brisbane, and Queensland Forestry Research Institute, Australia, participating in project ‘Hoop pine nitrogen and water use efficiency: improving the understanding and management with advanced stable isotope, physiological and molecular techniques’, funded by Australian Research Council.
