Main Fields of Experience in Translating/Interpreting
- In the UK, I have been working as a translator of Japanese to English for the HMRC on legal issues. This work generally covers most aspects of drawing up contracts, translating relevant documents for tax purposes, and working on court cases related to copyright violations, patenting issues, and fraud cases for the Special Fraud Squad of the UK Metropolitan Police Force.
- In Japan I was interpreter/translator for both civil court cases and criminal court cases, working in close conjunction with lawyers and members of the Nagoya Metropolitan Police Force.
- I worked closely with automotive companies such as Toyota, Denso, Honda, and others on user manuals and instruction manuals for their products and their parts. This work involved actually visiting the factories to see the products themselves and how they are either put together or operated.
- I have worked on numerous software localizations, including the Sleipnir Browser, Limewire and Bombsquad, the Mac version of Minesweeper.
- I worked through an agency on a set of six books about the history of the Nagoya/Owari area from pre-historic times to the present. This was for Nagoya Museum, Nagoya, Japan.
- I have done numerous transcribing and subtitling jobs for an agency in the UK, mainly pertaining to lifestyle and fashion.
