DVM means to possess a medical culture, a very different matter from having simply linguistic skills

Since 2000
Medical translator dealing with human and veterinary medicine, medical software localization and all related technical topics

From 1981 to 2000 I worked as a Vet in my pet practice, were I treated and performed surgery on cats and dogs. I also worked in a vet laboratory, LAV by Dr Ariotti, doing blood analyzes, spectrophotometry and immunoassays. I then spent 6 months at Pinerolo ASL, working on the immunization and blood sampling of cows, swine and sheep.

I spent a year as an observer at the San Lazzaro dermatologic hospital in Turin, and six months in the obstetric department of the Molinette hospital, where I worked on many laboratory, clinic and surgical cases. I then spent six months in the enterology department of the Molinette hospital in Turin, under Prof. Pozzetto, studying immunology and performing oncology trials and endoscopy. Finally, I attended a three-month in-house residential course on tropical medicine at OIT-ILO, Turin.

DVM, specialized in medical translation
A nuclear magnetic resonance machine is however a mechanical and electronic device, and modern medical devices are often computerized, this is why I'm specialized in some technical matters, and I'm skilled in software localization.
You see, some interconnected topics are all required to achieve a single specialization: Medicine

Types of documents I translate

  • Drug registration dossiers, EMA, Summary of Product Characteristics (SmPC), Patient Information Leaflet (PIL), packaging, labelling
  • Medical information for patients and physicians
  • Clinical trial documentation (including Study Protocol, Informed Consent Forms (ICF), Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) Forms, etc.
  • Documentation (IFUs) for medical devices, equipment, and surgical instruments
  • User interface for medical software and related (e-)documentation
  • Medical news (and summaries of the medical journals)
  • Scientific articles
  • Surveys
  • Marketing communications, press releases, news, product launches
  • Presentations
  • Veterinary magazines
  • Human and veterinary medicine academic books
  • News
  • e-Learning
