May 2003 - June 2005: 

Design/Build Project Manager, Logistics, CVS/pharmacy Corporation, Woonsocket, RI.

Responsible for all logistics department facilities design and construction projects (new construction and renovation) for 13 Distribution Centers with a combined area of over 10 million square feet.  Administered multi-million dollar projects through contract initiation, site selection, programming and development, design, construction, and operational start-up. In these projects, successfully represented the needs of CVS Corporation to the designers and contractors.  Responsible for projects with a combined value of over $300 million.    

 

·          Successfully led multi-disciplinary facility and material handling architecture/engineering teams (both national and international) during design and construction of 2 distribution centers in Ennis, TX ($150 million) and in Vero Beach, FL ($200 million).  Responsible for integrating the material handling engineering design with the warehouse building design.

·          Surveyed existing energy systems, conducted research, and implemented energy infrastructure improvements of all CVS Distribution Centers ($5 million project).

·          Managed fire protection code and insurance compliance of all CVS Distribution Centers ($5 million project).

·          In team situations, worked effectively with national and international leading construction and material handling design/build firms.

·          Maintained excellent relationships with local officials (including elected officials and Chambers of Commerce) in the management of building code compliance, inspections, and economic incentives for business.

March 2002 - April 2003

Design/Build Project Manager,  Design Department, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Charleston, SC.

Responsible for managing all facilities design projects on Naval Station Pascagoula, and for managing selected projects on Naval Air Facility Key West, and at Naval Weapons Station Charleston. Regularly interfaced between customers in need of design services and internal technical staff.  Made project status presentations to senior management.  Managed projects with a combined construction value of over $100 million.

 

·          Successfully led multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, architectural, and fire protection) during design and construction of 6 projects at Naval Station Key West.  Highlights of these projects include a new 700,000-gallon water tank at Truman Annex (a $4 million design/build [D/B] project), and a $1 million renovation of Trumbo Point Fire Station.  

·          Selected as engineering team leader for 3 multi-million dollar design/build projects. Sourced, selected, and negotiated with major construction contractors. Developed detailed statements of work (including cost estimate and budget preparation), and provided project scheduling and design review. These projects include Pascagoula's new Sailors Ashore 100 person barracks, the Truman Annex Fitness Center, and Fleet Operations Administration Facility.

·          Successfully project managed 3 in-house design projects, which required the development of engineering plans and specifications.  These included a retirement facility, a warehouse, and a small-boat basin, having a combined construction value of $3 million.

·          Successfully managed over 15 projects which were awarded to outside architecture and engineering firms. Sourced, selected, and negotiated with these firms for design services for 1 medical clinic, 2 administration facilities, 1 research laboratory, 3 living quarters, 2 recreational facilities, 1hazardous material storage facility, and 2 historical buildings.  

 

September 2000 - February 2002: 

Mechanical Engineer,  Design Department, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Charleston, SC.

Developed Requests for Proposals (RFP). Prepared detailed engineering design drawings, specifications, and calculations for new and existing facilities.  Conducted technical reviews of engineering drawings and specifications which were submitted by Architect and Engineering (A/E) firms.  Provided heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing design.  Provided computer aided design support using AutoCAD software.

 

·          Responsible for saving Naval Station Mayport (FL) $5 million by researching and proposing an alternative scope of work for the Aircraft Carrier Wharf Improvement Project.

·          Provided mechanical and plumbing design consultation on over 20 facilities projects.  Examples demonstrating higher levels of design complexity include the Great Lakes Marine Reserve Center (a multi-function facility), and the Beaufort Marine Corps Preschool Renovation.

 

1996-2001:    Lieutenant, (O-3) U.S. Navy, Surface Warfare Officer, Shipboard Multi-discipline Engineer (Propulsion/Weapons Systems). Directly supervised over 70 engineers and technicians.  Areas of responsibility included specifying and managing maintenance, equipment inspection, repair of shipboard propulsion and shipboard weapons systems, and real time operation of nuclear and non-nuclear shipboard propulsion plants, including the nuclear reactor, steam, gas turbine (mechanical and electrical), diesel, and electrical sub-plants

 

1992 - 1995:    Engineering Co-op Student, Central Intelligence Agency, Washington, DC.  Facilities Management Group and Anti-terrorism Center.  Assisted in writing statements of work for technical government contracts.  Assisted in providing field engineering services for facilities construction.  Provided drafting assistance using AutoCAD software.
