CERTIFIED PRO ENGLISH INTO FRENCH TRANSLATOR

1. ABOUT ME

Six years ago, I stepped into the world of professional translation. This was no doubt the natural destination of an odyssey I embarked on since my years in secondary and high school. In those days, we used to translate from French (L1) into English and Spanish and vice versa. When I left high school as a holder of Baccalauréat in Arts (in French), translation was already my favorite subject. I later on had a BA in French/English bilingual studies. As an undergraduate student, I read Translation and French/English Comparative and Contrastive Studies.

As a post-graduate student, I read English Modern Letters with pragmatics and discourse analysis as areas of specialization. I am a holder of a Maîtrise (Master I with Thesis) and Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies (Master II with Thesis) in English language.

I am defending a Ph.D. thesis in Linguistics (pragmatics) latest August 2012. In the meantime, I have been actively invoved in translation research and teaching. I have been teaching Translation and Comparative and Contrastive Studies to undergraduate students since October 2008. I have published two scientific articles on translating in peer-reviewed international translation journals (in Spain and China). Four others are under review (in France, Canada, China). 2. CREDIBILITY

I will only take a job from you on the following conditions (mind the order):

1. I STRONGLY believe I can deliver quality translation in the field;

2. I am truly available to do the job to your satisfaction within the deadlines (alone or with my team).

♦ I now am available to work full time as freelancer. You can reach me anytime. If my skype (theodoredasse) status on this profile shows I am offline, you can call if I haven't replied your mail after 2 hours. It could be that I am in class. I usually prefer large projects, though I sometimes take projects of 2000 words. (see Section 4 below on outpout and rates.)

3. PART TIME PROFESSIONAL CAREER AS TRANSLATOR

After graduation, one of my lecturers coopted me into his translation team...and my professional career took off. I later on joined the translation team of the Cameroon National Advanced School of Engineering where I worked as English into French translator as well as the team of the African Malaria Network Trust (AMANET)/Cameroon Bioethics Intiative (CAMBIN). I went international in 2009, fully prepared!

4. OUTPUT AND RATES

Though I sometimes can take projects of less than 2000 words, I usualy prefer large assignments. The largest assignment I recently handled was 170 000 words. I have a team of dedicated trained translators that I can mobilize at any time. Besides, I am totally free now and so can work full time as translator. So do not be afraid to entrust your large project with me! Rates are not truly a problem with me. I will never reject a fair price! Why should I?
