BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Rationale: Having for the past 6 years worked as translator in the advertising department of a major Afrikaans daily newspaper exposed me to a variety of text types and subject fields. I regularly worked under pressure because of tight deadlines.
I'm no stranger to the internet either, and I frequently extract terminology and definitions from the world wide web and mailing lists. My background makes me suited for almost any type of short or medium length assignment.
Agencies: I have dealt with international translation agencies, and I'm familiar with the confidentiality, urgency and accuracy involved.
Rates: My usual rate for both translation and localisation (negotiable) is EUR 90.00 per 1000 words (roughly USD 0.12 per word). Other rates available on my web site.
Personal: I'm native to South Africa, although I lived in the United Kingdom for two years. My wife is a Dutch citizen (named Marion, from Hoofddorp, Holland). We have a son named Finn Genly, and a daughter named Norah Elbereth. |
