QUALIFICATIONS
I am a native speaker of Vietnamese, and have been well trained in translation, linguistics and language teaching. I hold a BA degree in English and Translation from the University of Hue (Vietnam), an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts-Boston (USA), and a Doctorate in Language Education from the University of Melbourne (Australia). I have also obtained Translation certificates in Vietnam.
EXPERIENCE
I have worked as a translator, editor, writer and language researcher for over 10 years in Vietnam, Australia and the US. My areas of specialization include but are not limited to Education /Pedagogy, Tourism and Travel, Development/Cooperation, Health, Business/Commerce, and Information Technology. Having lived and worked in the US and Australia for a number of years, together with frequent trips abroad continously enriches my experience in cross-cultural communication.
I also hold lectureship at the university Hue, Vietnam. I teach courses in socio-linguistics, cross-cultural communication and translation theory & practice at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have published widely in the areas of applied linguistics and language teaching. A search in Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) for my name "pham hoa hiep" will give access to some of my publications!
